The next year, Apple plans to introduce an entirely new product category. It has been reported over the past few months that Apple will introduce its extended reality headset and enter the virtual reality market in 2023 (together with the supporting software and development environment). We already knew that the business intended to market its extended reality goods with the Reality brand, and now we have some further information.

According to renowned Apple journalist Mark Gurman, Apple may be considering including the services of 3D video and an extended reality environment like the metaverse in a future Apple VR system. Gurman reaffirmed a few specifics on the upcoming Apple extended reality headset in his most recent Power On newsletter. He claims that it will be a high-end product with a price tag of $2,000 to $3,000. The expensive cost of this headset may be attributed to Apple's powerful technology, which includes the Mac-level M2 processor, more than 10 cameras, and the best-quality displays currently available for consumer VR. Apple is also enhancing the headset's software experience. Gurman brought up a few Apple job posts that give some indication of future products the business may release. According to Gurman, the company is looking for a software engineer with knowledge of game asset pipelines, visual effects, and the ability to create digital content for augmented- and virtual reality situations. Apple intends to develop a 3D video service for the headgear, said Gurman. The company also seems to be looking for someone to assist in developing a 3D mixed-reality environment. It seems as though Apple is working to improve the current metaverse.

According to the job post, the new recruit would collaborate with other developers to "create tools and frameworks to allow linked experiences in a 3D mixed-reality world.” The statement goes on to say, "Working closely with Apple's UI framework, user interface designers, and system capabilities teams will challenge you to think creatively and find solutions for very challenging yet intriguing problems in the world of 3D applications.” Given that Apple seems to disapprove of Meta's version of it, we may predict that Apple's implementation of this concept will differ greatly from Meta's. The CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, recently said in an interview that he doesn't think the average person would comprehend what the metaverse is, so that should give you a hint as to what to expect if Apple decides to experiment with the idea. Be prepared to spend more money than you would even for Apple's most expensive iPhones and iPads if you want to experience it.
