After months of development, Bowers & Wilkins finally released its Px8 headphones to the public back in September. On the occasion of James Bond's 60th birthday, the company introduced a limited-edition Px8 007 in October. The Bowers & Wilkins McLaren Edition headphones are now available in stores throughout the world thanks to a partnership between the company and the prestigious British automaker McLaren.
These headphones include a headband and earcups that are colored Galvanic Grey, and there is a stripe of McLaren's Papaya Orange that goes around the perimeter of each earcup. The earcups also have a stripe of McLaren's Papaya Orange. In addition, the color Papaya Orange is used for the inside of the earcups on both sides of the headphones. The McLaren brand is represented in some kind over the whole of the headphones, including the headband and the carrying case, which is colored grey.
The headphones have fibre drivers measuring 43.6 mm in diameter and a digital signal processor that is able to reproduce 24-bit audio whether connected through AUX, Bluetooth, or USB Type-C. Codecs such as AAC, SBC, aptX, aptX HD, and aptX Adaptive Bluetooth are supported by each and every B&W Px8 model.
Additionally, Bowers & Wilkins states that the Px8 may last up to 30 hours on a single charge, but we can only imagine this time is shortened when ANC is on. Reportedly working together on the McLaren Artura, McLaren GT, and McLaren Speed tail, the two have joined forces for a commemorative project.
The Px8 McLaren Edition may now be purchased online for the equivalent of €799 (or £699, or $999) in the Eurozone, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In a nutshell, the McLaren Edition's McLaren-themed paint job justifies the €100 premium over the base Px8. To learn more about the headphones, check out Bowers & Wilkins' online store.
