The next foldable device from Microsoft include a folding screen

There have been rumors that Microsoft is ditching the dual-screen Surface Duo 3 in favor of a more flexible design.

A recent report suggests that Microsoft's upcoming foldable phone may actually fold.

The Surface Duo and Surface Duo 2 were "foldable," but not in the way that most people would imagine. There was a hinge in the center, but the actual display was just two panels side by side. There were pros and cons, but rumor has it that Microsoft has finally given up and is moving on to a foldable design with a true folding display in their next version.

A fresh report from Windows Central's Zac Bowden claims that "sources familiar with the company's intentions" have said that the next foldable Surface would not include two displays.

It's interesting to note that this change of heart seems to have occurred pretty much right at the very end of the Surface Duo 3's design process. Due to the fact that it was so late in the day, the shipment of the goods had been scheduled to begin towards the end of the year 2023. However, it is not going to take place at this time.

Now, we have been informed that Microsoft will distribute a device that has a display that folds in the center owing to a hinge that rotates 180 degrees. After then, very little is known. According to the same sources, Windows Central has been informed that there is presently no definite shipping window for when the new device will go on sale, which indicates that it will most likely not be released in the year 2023. In addition to this, we are completely clueless about the components of the device that will be used.

According to the same source, Microsoft is working on software-based approaches to help its devices separate themselves from other Android phones in order to better compete in the market. The project, which reportedly goes by the name "Perfect Together," is an attempt to recreate the unified user experience that Apple has achieved with its own iPhone and Mac product lines. Because of this, it is expected that there will be a stronger interaction between the foldable and computers running Windows, for example.

The transition to a foldable device with a single screen will almost certainly come as a letdown to many consumers, despite the fact that there will be tangible advantages to doing so. To begin, if the gadget had the capacity to support full-screen video playback, the discomfort associated with this situation would be much reduced.
