Samsung Partnership Google & AMD

According to information provided by tipster Connor, Samsung is collaborating with AMD's graphics team and Google's Tensor team to develop a new chipset. Most likely, beginning in 2025, this chipset will power the flagship Samsung Galaxy S-series phones.

Detailed Information

According to sources, the new chipset would include four performance-focused cores operating at a reduced clock speed, four energy-efficient cores, and two highly effective Cortex-X cores. According to the published diagram, an AMD GPU will be built within the chipset to handle graphically demanding tasks. Google and Samsung have already partnered to create Google Tensor chips for the Pixel series of smartphones. Samsung produces the Tensor and G2 semiconductors that power the Pixel 6 and 7 series smartphones. They are essentially Exynos CPUs with added Google AI functionality.

According to recent sources, both of these businesses have already begun developing the third-generation Google Tensor SoC, which will debut with the Pixel 8 series in 2019. The chip has the product number S5P9865 and supposedly goes by the codename "Ripcurrent." Most smartphone chips today are produced using the 5 nm or 4nm process, but since this new chipset for the upcoming Galaxy S-series phones is anticipated to launch in a few years, it may be produced using the more advanced 3nm process. This is highly likely given that Samsung has already begun developing 3nm chips. Before this, Qualcomm declared itself the exclusive provider for Samsung's next Galaxy S23 series. There is a good chance that Samsung will only use Qualcomm chipsets for the Galaxy S23 series because Qualcomm does not include Samsung among the businesses that will utilize its most recent Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.
