A new wireless networking technology has been introduced by Qualcomm that has the potential to provide the next generation of mesh devices with data transfer speeds of over 20 Gbps.

In the "second half" of the year 2023, it is projected that the Immersive Home Platform of Qualcomm Wi-Fi 7 will make its debut in the industry of consumer products for the first time.

The design of the chipset enables manufacturers to provide low-cost consumer network solutions with sufficient bandwidth for simultaneous device connections, dependable Wi-Fi in the home, and smooth gaming. This is made possible by the chipset's ability to support multiple wireless networks simultaneously.

Included in this package is Qualcomm's Multi-Link Mesh technology, which continually checks the conditions of the network and reroutes connections between the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands in order to increase speed and dependability. All of your connections will be optimized, and each of your devices will get the exact amount of bandwidth that it needs since support for Wi-Fi 7 and smart congestion avoidance algorithms are included.

In a statement, Qualcomm's senior vice president and general manager Nick Kucharewski explained that the Qualcomm Immersive Home Platform was created to "enable high-performance connectivity in every home," and that it does so by providing "the latest innovations in mesh networking" in a low-cost, compact package.

"If you want to get the most out of Wi-Fi 7, a tri-band system that takes advantage of three different frequencies in the unlicensed wireless spectrum is your best option. Wi-Fi mesh, when implemented in this manner, may improve performance for both new and old devices."

Netgear will be the first company to implement the Immersive Home Platform into their next product selection. The company will soon deliver Wi-Fi 7-enabled Orbi Mesh devices, making them the first company to do so.
