Based on the leaks, Samsung is preparing to release many smartwatches on July 10 during the Unpacked event. We anticipate the release of the Galaxy Watch7 in addition to the premium Ultra and affordable FE models.
A brief overview of a smartwatch bearing the model number SM-R861 was made on a support page on Samsung’s UK and North America websites. We're not sure if this will be the official name for the product, but it's thought to be the Galaxy Watch FE. For those who are unaware, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is designated as model number SM-R860.

There have been other rumours circulating regarding this wearable's name. According to a well-known tipster reckons, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 (2024) will be the official name and the Galaxy Watch FE will be discontinued. On that one, we'll just have to wait and see.
A 1.4-inch, 450 × 450 px Super AMOLED screen is included on the Galaxy Watch 4. With 1.5GB RAM and 16GB storage, it is powered by an Exynos W920 processor. If it's being updated for 2024, we would anticipate seeing at least some of those specs improve.
Regarding cost, we know that the Galaxy Watch FE's affordability led to its creation, but we have yet to see an exact price leak. The device could be based on the updated Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, presently available for $199, £199, or AU$399 at retail.
It appears to be more likely that the Galaxy Watch FE moniker will be used, even if the internals may be similar to the Galaxy Watch 4. This is based on regulatory filings indicating Samsung has decided to use the Galaxy Watch FE brand.
According to official reports, Samsung has stated that a plethora of AI functions would be added to the next Galaxy Watches to provide more personalized and precise health statistics. There's a chance that the budget model will include some or all of these.
Finally, there is a rumour that suggests we may receive a Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra version this year. It appears Samsung is eager to match Apple's wearable lineup, particularly with regard to the design of a flagship numbered watch, the Apple Watch SE 2 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2.
There are a few things we would like to see Samsung announce while we wait impatiently for the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE. We would want to see the following features on the Samsung Galaxy FE when it is released if anybody from Samsung happens to be reading.
First, the obvious: the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE must cost far less than the flagship versions because it is being released as a less expensive option for those looking to replace their Samsung Galaxy Watch 7. We hope that the Samsung equivalent will be priced far less than the $249 / £259 / AU$399 of the smallest Apple Watch SE 2, which is priced without a cellular connection.
It's a common request from wearable users, of course, but longer battery life should follow if Samsung decides to give the Galaxy Watch FE a slower internal processor and maybe a less bright screen.
Beyond pricing, we need more justification for choosing the less expensive model, and if Samsung can improve the smartwatch's battery life, that just could be one.
We don't want the Galaxy Watch FE to suffer from the build quality that can occur when a less expensive version of an existing product is released. To avoid making the watch feel cheap, Samsung should try to make it feel as premium as possible.
The MIL-STD-810 military standard is met by the Galaxy Watch 4, which is equipped with IP68 water resistance as standard. Here, we hope for the same outcome.
Given that no two people have the same wrist size, the main Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 may be available in a few sizes.
We would appreciate having some new color options while we're talking about options; manufacturers sometimes use this technique to make a less expensive product selection appear appealing.
We hope that many of the AI features, or at least the most beneficial ones, find their way into the Samsung Galaxy FE. We've already discussed the AI elements that Samsung is bringing to its next smartwatches.
We're hopeful the software on the Galaxy Watch FE won't let us down, as there have been rumors that Wear OS 5 will be making its way to the Samsung Galaxy Watch series very soon.
