The upcoming Google Pixel Fold

For years, rumors have circulated that Google is working diligently on a Pixel folding phone, potentially going by the Pixel Fold or Pixel Notepad. Its release was first expected to occur in the autumn of 2021, followed by a release in 2022 to coincide with the upcoming Pixel 7; leakers say it won't happen until early 2023. Should we trust them?

Is Google working on Pixel fold?

This is one of the most asked questions on the net. Google may be developing a foldable device. Even though Google hasn't provided any specific information on what it has in mind for the forthcoming form factor that may coexist with the incoming Pixel 7, we suspect it will. A few essential details have emerged, but there are a few of them, and some of them are contradictory. It becomes increasingly evident that the Pixel Fold is still in the far future if that's what it will be named. But do not fret. We're here to sort through the noise and provide you with all the information we know about the Pixel foldable.

Name of the device

It has long been said that the device is called "Pixel Fold," At one point, Google may have used that term internally. However, it could not be the name written on the box.

Google determined it wanted to differentiate its foldable brand to avoid parallels due to the success of Samsung's Z Fold smartphones. After contemplating "Logbook," which would have set Google's phone apart from Samsung's portfolio, it supposedly decided on Notepad.

Regardless of the name, there may be two foldable Google phones in the works in addition to the Pixel Fold. The latter type, though, seems unlikely ever to hit retail shelves.

Software

We had long assumed that Google would make the most of the Pixel Fold to highlight the tablet-focused Android 12L, but that hasn't happened. Instead, since Android 13 is Google's most recent operating system update, the Pixel Fold will almost certainly run it.

Specifications and camera for the Google Pixel Fold

The Pixel Fold should contain the same Tensor chip at its heart as the current Pixel 6 smartphones. However, we don't know much about the hardware just yet. We wouldn't be shocked if the Pixel Fold received the same Tensor 2 improvement planned for the upcoming flagship series, the Pixel 7, which is just around the way.

The first leak found in the Google Camera app has given some information about the camera. The program is being developed in the direction of the illusive Pixel Fold, as indicated by the string "isPixel2022Foldabl." The gadget, like the Pixel 5 before it, should include the dependable 12.2 MP Sony IMX363 primary sensor and the 12MP IMX386 wide-angle lens, according to the code.

Nevertheless, considering that the Fold's development is ongoing and these specifications are about a year old, it sounds like Google may have changed its setup. An upgraded sensor, incorporating a 50 MP Sony IMX787 primary lens and a 10MP Samsung S5K3J1 telephoto lens for such distant subjects, may have been leaked more recently. The front-facing 8MP Sony IMX355 camera and the 12MP IMX386 ultra-wide sensor appear to be the same.
